Midcoast Fall Field Trip - Afternoon/Evening of Day #2

Once we fed the troops lunch (thanks TLC parents for making THAT happen...) our pre-k through 2nd grade group loaded into cars and headed off to the Coastal Children's Museum in Rockland for a couple of hours of exploration and fun.

Meanwhile our older students got a chance to play outdoors with Lauren Jacobs.

Then EVERYONE piled in cars and took the 30 minute drive to Union, Maine to explore a local farm.

Cheryl and Rai, owners of Terra Optima farm welcomed our group with open arms and hooves and gave us a tour of their gorgeous farm.

Students and chaperones all enjoyed a turn on a wagon ride that took them up and around the fields.

Fall wagon ride at dusk...not too shabby!

Wagon-ride selfies!

We were super excited to hear that one of the mama pigs had just given birth to a litter of piglets! Can you even stand it!? Cutnesssss!

They were busy little piglets! They were zooming around, snorting and squealing and keeping us all very entertained!

I know that more than one of the TLC kids were trying to figure out a way to stuff a piglet into their jacket and sneak him back to their island!

We spent about an hour petting and visiting with all the friendly animals.

This was one of the sweetest donkeys I have ever seen.

And look at this lovey-dovey pig getting some attention from one of our littlest TLCers.

We visited with the cows and chickens for a bit before it was time to say goodbye.

We gave our final pats and thank-yous to the animals and farmers for the lovely visit.

And then gathered outside for a group photo! Hopefully there are some future farmers among this TLC!

After the farm, it was time for a bit of a different adventure... BOWLING!

We all met at Oakland Park Bowling Lanes for some good ol' candlepin bowling.

Most of these island students had never been candlepin bowling before so there was a bit of a learning curve.

And a lot of MATH! Everyone had to keep score using paper and pencils. None of this automatic score keeping! This bowling alley was the REAL DEAL!

But our students rose to the challenge!

And by the end of the hour we had some bowling pros and score-keepers!

Once again, we had worked up an appetite and thankfully our TLC chaperones had prepared another fabulous meal for us all to enjoy!

We chowed down a big plates of spaghetti, sauce, salad and bread!

Full bellies make for happy TLCers!

Two thumbs up for our TLC chefs!

Dinner sefie! (I couldn't resist!)

We had a very special treat planned for our after dinner entertainment. Students from the local Midcoast Music Academy put on a very special performance for our TLC filled with quite the selection of music (everything from jazz to some classic rock!)

To encourage some fun/party-atmosphere our TLC students broke out the traditional TLC costume dress-up bag!

No TLC event is complete without a bit of costumes!

Part of being apart of the TLC is knowing how to be silly...

No matter if you are a student OR teacher!

Some of our kids dressed-up in their animal masks that they had made earlier in the day!

Between the live music and the dress-up bag, a dance party spontaneously broke out and most of the kids were on their feet!

Even our middle schoolers got into the party-atmosphere!

Our performers brought the house down and by the end of the night our students were bringing them homemade cards and fan-mail to thank them for such an awesome performance!

We got some groupie photos with the band before packing up and heading back to the hotel for the evening. It was a rockin' way to end another rockin' day!
