Our Amazing TLC Teachers!

Oh boy, I am doing the coordinator "walk of shame" right now as I am posting this blog! I am SO behind on updating all of our TLC fans about what's been happening with us this winter! BUT, while the TLC teachers and students are off fluttering about for February break, I will be trying to get caught up on all things TLC BLOG!

So... let's rewind to January, shall we?

As SOON as the holiday break was over  the TLC teachers were back at it, meeting to make plans for second trimester, but this time they got to meet face-to-face... well, at least most of them got to!

Teachers from Cliff, Matinicus, and Frenchboro met in Portland on a very snowy Monday in January to plan curriculum! Due to the storm, our teachers on Monhegan, Isle au Haut, and the Cranberries were unable to get off island so they joined us for the day via technology!

During their time together they planned out their second trimester science curriculum, book groups, and made further plans for our TLC trip to Quebec! They were busy little teacher bees!

One of the funnest/funniest part of our work together was trying to figure out how to use technology to work together in a relatively small hotel room.

When it was time to break out into small work groups we had to get creative with our space... so here the Frenchboro teacher is zooming with the Isle au Haut teacher in the hotel bathroom. You can say a lot of things about island teachers, but you can never say that their aren't flexible and adaptable!

It wasn't all work and no play during our teacher time! After a long day of planning the teachers headed out on the town in Portland. Luckily, we knew the right people in the Casco Bay area because when we went to dinner we found we had an entire room reserved just for us, the "Captain's People."

And just for fun... here are two little TLC monkeys (one being "The Captain," himself!) that I found jumping on my bed when we got back to the hotel that night! Too silly and cute.

It was a great time in Portland for our TLC teachers to reconnect, work, and have a little fun before heading back to their island for the long stretch of winter.

But just because our face-to-face time is Portland was over, doesn't mean our work is! I am not sure if you all know, but our TLC teachers meet ever other week for an hour via technology to continue plans, coordinate events, and work at continuing to bring our island students together. These teachers have so much on their plates but they all continue to commit to this project and for that we should all be EXTREMELY grateful. Well  done, TLC teachers. You are absolutely the best of the best when it comes to dedicated and talented educators.
